A strawberry high-tea birthday party

Sara turned nine (nine!!) a few weeks ago, so last week we organised a birthday party for her and her friends. I always ask what sort of birthday my kids would want (we've had themes like horses, knights, disco, cooking, sushi and a treasure hunt before), and this time, Sara came up with the idea of a strawberry high-tea birthday party. A wonderful idea I thought! So she invited 9 girl friends to come home with her after school, and we decorated the table for a sweet strawberry high tea. With finger sandwiches, cakes, strawberry tea, real cups and saucers, and lots of strawberries of course!strawberry high-tea birthday partystrawberry high-tea birthday partyA strawberry high-tea partyA strawberry high-tea party

Strawberry high-tea birthday party activities

As activities, we let the girls clean the strawberries for strawberry jam. They made labels for the jars, and together with Oma made the jam and filled their little jars. We also bought a terracotta pot and strawberry plant for each of the girls to decorate, plant, and take home. It was a lovely afternoon, and the girls (and Pim) had a wonderful time! I really think this is such a (literally!) sweet idea for a birthday party. It's fun and it's easy to make everything look super nice. Also, the children learn something (how to make jam and how to plant something), and it's not overly stimulating as some birthdays tend to be. I definitely recommend this idea!A strawberry high-teastrawberry high-tea birthday partystrawberry high-tea birthday partystrawberry high-tea birthday partystrawberry_high_tea_7strawberry_high_tea_8strawberry_high_tea_10xxx Esther
